Melissa Clark M.A, Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern IMH 8514
Melissa Clark earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from Liberty University located in Lynchburg Virginia. In 1991 she started a group called Singles Offering Life to Others, during this time she spoke, taught small groups and counseled single adults. She also worked at Greensboro Springs Calvary Church, as a counselor specializing in marriage counseling and women’s issues. In 2006 Melissa pioneered a Ministry at East Coast Believers Church in Casselberry, Fl. called Heart to Heart, www.hearttoheart.me . Through this group she has counseled women for depression, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse, marriage problems, anxiety, codependency, overwhelmed single parents, grief and loss issues, self esteem problems, coping with divorce, parenting issues, spiritual and emotional problems.
Melissa believes three main things help turn people’s weakness into their strengths: Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding. In keeping with knowledge, Melissa’s goal is to be ever learning information. She has been accepted by the state of Florida to be a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern. These standards will keep her accountable to pursue the best training; which brings us to wisdom, that is applying the knowledge to oneself first then to others. Melissa uses experiences of her own life like: growing up in a divorced home, not marrying till she was 29, separating from her husband for over a year, running her own business for over 15 years, watching her mother die of breast cancer, being barren, being a foster mom, adopting two baby’s, overcoming financial challenges due to economy and real estate investments, and dealing with learning disabilities and ADHD in her children, these personal experiences help her understand and have compassion toward her clients. Do not be surprised if you see a tear run down her cheek when you tell her your story.
Melissa lives in Winter Springs. She is thankful for 20 years of marriage with Mark and being the mom of her miracles, Ashley who is 12 and Jacob who is 11 years old. She enjoys being a cheer coach, loves tennis, water and snow skiing. Her family loves to travel. Their favorite adventure was a Disney cruise to Europe. Each morning Melissa thanks God for using her to counsel others so they can receive, “ Beauty For ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning and peace for despair.”
