I graduated as an M.D. from the University of Manchester, England in 1986 and worked as a physician for 15 years. I worked for a number of years as a Medical Advisor in two separate Addictions Units, and then in my later years in the UK as a Family Doctor.

When my husband’s work brought us to Orlando in fall 2001, I decided to take some time out of my career to experience the joys and trials of being a full-time homemaker and mom. Our two boys Phil and Chris were 9 and 7 when we arrived, and Phil has special needs as a result of a very rare medical condition. Many rich experiences over the course of three years gave me new insights into the lives of women who spend extended time at home, either by choice or necessity.

In 2004 I commenced a two-year Master of Arts program at Reformed Theological Seminary, graduating in July 2006 with a Masters degree in counseling. Since graduation I have been able to pursue my passion for helping people with addictions through my work with the Center for Drug Free Living.

I experienced considerable dysfunction in my family growing up, with a mother who has been chronically depressed – and at times suicidal – since my early childhood, and a father who emotionally withdrew. This led to my own battle with depression for many years. My own experiences of being wonderfully restored and set free from years of bondage in my early 40s are what has give me a deep passion to now help others with whatever mental health need or concern is preventing them from becoming a whole person.

As well as addictions issues, I have a special interest in helping those struggling with gender identity or childhood abuse, relationship difficulties including marital troubles and divorce, depression and other emotional problems, as well as families of children with special needs and serious medical problems.
